Sunglasses Box or Foldable Case: Which One Suits You
Sunglasses get damaged in two ordinary ways: stacked on a shelf where they rub against each other, or loose in a bag where everything else rubs against them. The right storage depends on which of those you are solving.
A display box for frames you rotate at home
If you own several pairs and reach for a different one depending on the day, a box with individual slots keeps each pair separated and visible. A transparent lid matters more than it sounds: when you can see the frames, you stop lifting three pairs to find the fourth.

A foldable case for frames that travel
A box is the wrong shape for a bag. A foldable case takes up less room when empty and holds its shape when full. The five-slot foldable case folds flat between trips and includes a mirror, which is more useful than it sounds when you are trying frames on away from home.
For two or three pairs, the organiser case with a mirror is the smaller option.
What actually scratches lenses
- Other frames. Metal hinges against a lens is the most common cause, and it happens in drawers and on shelves, not in cases.
- Dust and sand. Wiping a dusty lens drags grit across the coating. Rinse first where you can, then dry with a soft cloth.
- Bag hardware. Keys, zips and buckles. This is what a case is for.
- Setting them down lens-first. A habit worth breaking: rest them on the arms, folded, or in the case.
Questions worth asking before you choose
- How many pairs need a home, and how many of those travel?
- Will the box sit out on a surface, or inside a wardrobe?
- Do you own oversized frames? Check they sit without pressing against the lid.
- Do you need a mirror, or is this purely storage?
